ITAP (Permanent Stay Permit) are given to foreign citizens who will stay in Indonesia for a long time. The term of the KITAP is 5 years and can be extended for an unlimited period of time provided that the High Permit is not canceled. ITAP given to (given through status transfer):
Foreigners holding a limited stay permit as clergy, workers, investors, and elderly;
family due to mixed marriage;
husband, wife, and / or child of a Foreign Holder of a Permanent Stay Permit; and
Foreign Indonesian ex-citizen and former subject child of the dual Republic of Indonesia
ITAP given directly without going through a status transfer to:
Former subjects of children with dual citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia who choose foreign citizenship;
Children born in Indonesia to foreigners who hold a permanent residence permit; and
Indonesian citizens who lost Indonesian citizenship in the Indonesian Territory.
Note: Foreigners who hold permanent residency permits (ITAP) who have made an extension are required to report to the immigration office whose working area covers the residence of foreigners every 5 (five) years.
